Certification Follows On-Site Inspection of LG’s Manufacturing Facilities in South Korea

(December 12, 2024) – LG Electronics in Iraq proudly announces that it has obtained the Iraqi Quality Mark certification for its range of electrical products, including air conditioners, refrigeration units, and electric ovens. This achievement makes LG Electronics the first foreign company to earn this distinguished certification in the country, reflecting its unwavering commitment to global quality standards.

The Iraqi Quality Mark is a reputable trademark granted to both locally produced and imported products that meet the standards and specifications set by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC). The purpose of this certification is to enhance consumer confidence, ensure product safety and quality, and protect the Iraqi market against counterfeit and substandard goods.

In October, a delegation of specialists and experts from COSQC conducted field inspections of LG’s factories in South Korea to verify compliance with Iraqi standards. During their visit, the technical team carried out an in-depth review of LG Electronics’ production facilities dedicated to air conditioners, refrigeration units, and electric ovens.

The inspection process involved four main phases. The first phase included visiting the KTC laboratories, accredited according to ISO 17025, where both parties agreed on testing criteria, the number of samples required, and the timeline for preparing and submitting inspection reports to COSQC. The second phase consisted of on-site inspections covering every stage of the production process—from raw materials to finished products—ensuring that the established quality control measures consistently align with Iraqi standards.

In the third phase, the delegation examined the testing procedures, as well as calibration processes for monitoring and measuring devices used in LG’s laboratories. Lastly, samples of LG products were collected for further testing at KTC laboratories to confirm full compliance with Iraqi specifications and requirements.

Dr. Eng. Fayadh Mohamed Abd, President of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, underscored that awarding LG the Iraqi Quality Mark is an important indicator of the company’s dedication to providing high-quality products that meet the needs of Iraqi consumers. He emphasized that this certification bolsters consumer confidence in products available in Iraq’s marketplace and reaffirms COSQC’s commitment to safeguarding consumers and maintaining the quality of imported goods. He encouraged manufacturers supplying the Iraqi market to adhere to these standards and seek certification of Conformity.
